Small Class Sizes

Historically studies have been conducted to analyze the effects of small class sizes on student achievement, such as the Student/Teacher Achievement Ratio (Project STAR) in Tennessee, the Student Achievement Guarantee in Education (SAGE) in Wisconsin, and the Class Size Reduction (CSR) program in California. All studied how class sizes of 15 or fewer students affected student achievement at all grade levels.

The effects of those small class sizes on student achievement were easily observed, as students in K-3 had higher literacy skills, and tested higher on basic skills in reading, language arts, and mathematics, which then continued into the later grades. In addition to the higher student achievement, students at all levels were also found to be healthier, had fewer distractions in their learning environment, were less likely to drop out of school, had more reliable attendance, participated in extracurricular activities more frequently, and were likely to pursue higher education.

Here at Trinity, our students also experience these same benefits, as our class sizes average below 15 students in each room. Our students consistently test higher on progress monitoring achievement tests compared to the national average. Our students receive a significant amount of individualized attention and instruction that is geared especially for that small group of students. When our students continue on to High School, they also continue to experience success as they are well prepared for the next step. Our students blend academically into High School seamlessly and are often placed in advanced classes.

In addition to the academic benefits, you can also rest assured that your student will be valued at Trinity. Each of our teachers knows a great deal about their students. Not only do they know what each student needs academically to help and challenge them, but they also know their students personalities, interests, and what makes them unique children of God.
