Daniel Slaughter

Pastor

Pastor Slaughter was born in Mesa, Arizona, and graduated high school in 2008. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, in 2012. Pastor attended Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin, and served as a vicar in Grove City, OH. After graduating in 2016, he received his first call to serve as a pastor of Zion Lutheran in Monroe, Michigan. He enjoys playing soccer, outdoor activities, and cars.

Some people ask me “Why did you want to be pastor?” I would have to say it is for the sake of the gospel, to give people the comfort in knowing what Jesus has done for them. My professor once told me, “Sometimes we can’t help but cry for the sake of the gospel.” I experienced that firsthand as my mother won her battle with cancer and was called home to heaven. Shortly after, a member in my congregation was battling cancer. He had two sons. They were in 8th and 9th grade. I was able to share with them the comfort I had received in knowing Christ and his promises…how He died and took away our sins so that we could be with him forever. It is for the sake of that gospel message that I became a pastor, so that I can share with people the comfort we have in Jesus Christ and his precious promises.
