“Growing in Mind, Character, and Faith”
Week of February 5, 2018
Conquerors through Christ Presentation: A presentation about inappropriate material on the internet will be presented on Monday, February 5, at 7:00 PM. It is conducted by Dan Schoeffel, staff minister at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Onalaska, WI, and designed to give parents the tools needed to monitor and protect children from troubling individuals who may be trying to contact them online. Since this presentation is geared toward parents, we kindly ask that children not attend.
D.A.R.E.: This week, Officer Brian Vycital will begin teaching a series of D.A.R.E. lessons to the 5th and 6th Grade on Tuesday afternoons. The following is a description of the program from the DARE.ORG:
This year millions of school children around the world will benefit from D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), the highly acclaimed program that gives kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence. D.A.R.E. was founded in 1983 in Los Angeles and has proven so successful that it is now being implemented in 75 percent of our nation’s school districts and in more than 52 countries around the world. D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.
In order to accommodate Officer Vycital, we are switching our departmentalized afternoons from Tuesdays to Wednesdays. We welcome Officer Vycital to Trinity School!
