This next week will be a very typical week in the classroom. The students will be working at full force in all of their classes for the first time this year. If you are noticing that if your child is consistently spending more than 40 minutes on homework at home, please let me know so we can work together to solve this issue.
This next week all students will have an English test on Thursday and the usual spelling test on Friday. Also, the fourth-graders will have a math test on Thursday as well. In addition to these tests, the students will also start to prepare for their first science test on Thursday. Please note that the review that they work on contains all of the same types of questions that will be on their test later the following week. Therefore, when the corrected review comes home, it will make a very valuable study tool. In addition to that review, we will also have a second review day prior to the test.
Once we are done with the Chapter 1 science test, we will start to work on Science Fair projects (each student will complete their own project). More details will come during that. However, one thing that you could do before that is to start brainstorming ideas so that your child has a topic in place before we begin working on it in the classroom. Projects could be a demonstration and explanation of how something works. It could test what would happen to something under different circumstances. An example of this would be what happens when you change how much light a plant get and explain why those results were observed. If you have an idea and want to run it past me to see if it would be appropriate, that would be great.
