Well, this week sure hasn’t gone as planned. Hopefully next week the weather cooperates, and we can have a full week of school.
Please note that since we did have hymnology last Friday (#395 v. 1, 2) that hymn is still due tomorrow as was originally planned. The rest of the memory work is cnceleld for this week.
Also, if your child still needed to take tests for the January A.R. goal, I will allow them to do those tomorrow (Friday), and they will still count toward January.
This next week will be doing two of the NWEA MAP tests for the winter session. We will do the reading and science test this week and then save the English and Math test for the following week. Please help encourage your student to do their best and to view these tests as a fun challenge to show their growth.
On Tuesday the fourth-graders will have a math test, and the students can expect the usual spelling test on Friday for Unit 21 words.
Perhaps this next week in science I would like to have the kids build a diagram to help them understand and remember the differences between comets, asteroids, meteors, and meteorites. If each family could bring in a larger shoe box (adult size), or some other type of box that is deeper, that would help us build these. For this project, cereal type boxes would be too shallow. Perhaps you have had a delivery from Amazon lately that came in a box, or you bought pop recently? Your student could use that. If you have extras to share, please let me know.
The February Scholastic book orders are due back tomorrow (Friday). If you wish to order you may place your order using the class code. Otherwise, you may send it back to school with exact cash or with a check made out to Susan Van Houten.
Here are some important dates for your calendar.
