New Busing Times?
Many of you received an email from the public school stating that their dismissal times are being adjusted starting November 23 and that bussing would also be adjusted. I am in contact with the bus company and will alert our Trinity families as soon as I know what this means for us and our school day. If you have any questions, please direct them to Susan Van Houten (svanhouten@trinitybelleplaine.org).
Distance Learning in the Public Schools and Bussing
I am sure that many of you have heard about specific school buildings in Belle Plaine going to full Distance Learning. Trinity continues to make it our priority to provide a safe, in person educational opportunity for our children.
If the whole school district decides to go to a Distance Learning format, that means that bussing would also stop. If we feel that we can still hold classes in person we will continue to meet each day. Our before and after care program will also continue to be open. If your family relies on the bus and is unsure on how to get your children to and from school each day, please reach out to Susan Van Houten (svanhouten@trinitybelleplaine.org) so that she can help come up with a solution to your transportation woes.
Report Cards
Report cards went home on Wednesday. If you have not already done so, please keep everything in the envelope, and sign and return the empty envelope to your child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible.
Scrip Payout
The first quarter payout for Scrip was applied to your Tads account for tuition. Feel free to log in to your TADS account to see how much was applied toward your child’s tuition. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Susan Van Houten (svanhouten@trinitybelleplaine.org).
Parent Teacher Conferences
Please sign up for parent-teacher conferences on November 16-18. Plan on fifteen minutes for each conference. We are allowing 5 minutes in between conferences for disinfecting. If you feel that you will need more time than fifteen minutes, please sign up for two consecutive time slots. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Van Houten. Thank you!

School Closings for Weather
I guess we are at that time of the year again. If you suspect that winter weather might lead to a possible school closing, you can listen for announcements on WCCO (830AM) radio, check on WCCO’s website, or sign up for WCCO’s School Closings newsletter. Trinity will follow what the Belle Plaine school district does.
Children’s Christmas Service
At this time we are planning to have the annual Children’s Christmas Service on Sunday, December 20, at 4 p.m. The final rehearsal for this service will be Saturday, December 19 from 9-11 a.m. Things will look different this year. One of the big changes is that the students will sit with their families and come forward when it is their turn to present the Christmas story. More details will be communicated closer to the event.
Children’s Christmas Service pre-service music
As in the past, we would like students to provide the pre-service music that day. If your child has played an instrument for at least a year, or the music teacher thinks he or she is ready to play a piece for that service, please send an e-mail to Maria Reese at mreese@trinitybelleplaine.org. Include the child’s name, name of the song, and the instrument the student will be playing. Thank you.
Evergreen Pick-Up Help Needed
Mrs. Bandel will be meeting the delivery driver on the morning of Friday, November 20th. She is looking for a few extra sets of hands to help with the unloading when the truck arrives. Unfortunately, she will not know the exact delivery time until that morning. If you can help, please reach out to Mrs. Bandel.
Picture Retakes
Mark your calendar; picture retakes have been scheduled. If you missed the original picture day or would like to try again on your child’s photos, retakes will be Tuesday, November 24.
Cold and Flu Season
Many of you may be wondering what to do when your child develops new symptoms that most likely is related to a typical cold but are also possible symptoms related to COVID-19. According to the most current guidelines, if your child has one of the following symptoms, then they need to remain home for at least 10 days unless a health care provider clears your child to return to school:
- a fever of 100.4 or greater
- new or worsening cough
- difficulty breathing
- a new loss of taste and smell
Additionally, all siblings must also remain home for 10 days or until a health care provider gives the ok. For more information or questions on whether you should send your child to school, please contact Susan Van Houten or your child’s classroom teacher.
COVID Testing
Do you know someone who is looking for fast results for a COVID test? I have heard that people going through the Mayo clinic here in Belle Plaine have been getting their results in 24-48 hours. It would appear that right now that the Ridgeview clinic is taking longer to process their tests.
Daily at-home Health Check
Please continue to check your child’s temperature before leaving for school to verify they do not have a fever of 100.4 degrees or more. (Do not medicate your child and send them.)
Also, please perform a visual check on your child for the following conditions:
- Flushed Cheeks
- Rapid Breathing/Difficulty Breathing
- Fatigue
- Extreme Fussiness
- Runny Nose
- Excessive Cough
- Sneezing
- Rash
Please note that students will be admitted into school if these symptoms are connected to a pre-existing condition or diagnosis not related to COVID (e.g., norovirus, strep throat) and are deemed safe by a health care provider.
Extra Cloth Masks
If your child needs more cloth masks, please feel free to contact Susan Van Houten (svanhouten@trinitybelleplaine.org) to request more. We still have many free ones on hand.
Trinity Care
Please continue to register your child/ren for Trinity Care up to 2 weeks in advance. Additional directions are given in the Google spreadsheet.
