Week of November 30

ChristLight Folders

We are nearing the end of the first ChristLight folders that went home in K-4.  Soon, the teachers will be asking for the folders to be returned. So, please make sure you can locate them and have them ready to send back to school.

Dropping Off and Picking Up

When dropping off and picking up your children, please remember that if you need to quickly run into the building to please park in a place that does not block others from dropping off.  This would include the circle drive. The Trailblazer bus uses the circle drive to do their drop-offs and pick-ups, and they need it to be free of vehicles in order to pass safely.  Preschool parents please wait in front of the building rather than the circle when picking up as we do have a Trailblazer bus that comes at that time.

No Bus Reminder

Reminder, the public school busses WILL NOT be running their routes during the month of December.  This may also continue into January. If you find yourself struggling to figure out how to get your child/ren to school, please reach out to Mrs. Van Houten so that she can help come up with a possible solution.

Children’s Christmas Service

At this time, we are planning to have the annual Children’s Christmas Service on Sunday, December 20, at 4 p.m.  The final rehearsal for this service will be Saturday, December 19, from 9-10:30 a.m.  If you have not returned the second page of the green note that went home indicating your family’s plans, please do so as soon as possible.

School Closings for Weather

Since the public school district is going to a distance learning format, we will not be able to follow their lead when snowstorms hit. If we should decide to have a delayed start, early dismissal, or call off school for a full day due to weather, a teacher will reach out to each family to communicate any changes to our school day.

Children’s Christmas Service pre-service music

As in the past, we would like students to provide the pre-service music that day. If your child has played an instrument for at least a year, or the music teacher thinks he or she is ready to play a piece for that service, please send an e-mail to Maria Reese at mreese@trinitybelleplaine.org. Include the child’s name, name of the song, and the instrument the student will be playing. Thank you.

Basketball Takes a Vacation

According to Gov. Walz’s most recent executive order, all youth sports are suspended for four weeks starting Friday, November 20 at 12:59 p.m.  During this time, there will not be any games or practices.

Read to Achieve

The Read to Achieve program is starting to wind down.  If your child/ren are participating in this program, please return their log sheets to the school by Friday, December 4.  Don’t forget to sign the sheet!

Scrip orders

Scrip is a great way to support the school.  It is also a good way to purchase gift cards without having to go to a store. Orders before Christmas will be placed right after church on November 29, December 6, and December 13. Please direct any questions to Sharon Anderson.  Happy Shopping!

Cold and Flu Season

Many of you may be wondering what to do when your child develops new symptoms that most likely is related to a typical cold but are also possible symptoms related to COVID-19. According to the most current guidelines, if your child has one of the following symptoms, then they need to remain home for at least 10 days unless a health care provider clears your child to return to school:

  • a fever of 100.4 or greater
    • new or worsening cough
    • difficulty breathing
    • a new loss of taste and smell

Additionally, all siblings must also remain home for 10 days or until a health care provider gives the ok. For more information or questions on whether you should send your child to school, please contact Susan Van Houten or your child’s classroom teacher.

Daily at-home Health Check

Please continue to check your child’s temperature before leaving for school to verify they do not have a fever of 100.4 degrees or more. (Do not medicate your child and send them.)

Also, please perform a visual check on your child for the following conditions:

  • Flushed Cheeks
  • Rapid Breathing/Difficulty Breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Extreme Fussiness
  • Runny Nose
  • Excessive Cough
  • Sneezing
  • Rash

Please note that students will be admitted into school if these symptoms are connected to a pre-existing condition or diagnosis not related to COVID (e.g., norovirus, strep throat) and are deemed safe by a health care provider.

Trinity Care

Please continue to register your child/ren for Trinity Care up to 2 weeks in advance. Additional directions are given in the Google spreadsheet.
