October 25-29

Since it is a short week, you are getting the weekly email a day early.  Please note that November hot lunch orders are due today. Also, we will go to the library today, so please make sure your child has their books at school.

If you are looking for something fun to do, PTO’s Harvest Festival is this Saturday.  This is a drop-in type event, so come and stay as long as you wish!

The students only have one more week to earn their October A.R. points.  So far, five students have reached their goal, and two more are getting close.  With the long weekend, this would be a perfect time to encourage your children to read those A.R. books and come with a test ready to go on Monday.

This next week will be busy in the classroom.  There will be an English test on Tuesday. The fourth-graders will have a math test on Friday, and the third graders will have their next math test on Friday. The usual spelling test will be on Friday as well. Thursday will be the first science test of the year. If your child has not been practicing their science vocabulary, now is the time to start.  Vocabulary will be a big focus on the test, and if the students don’t understand the vocabulary words, it will be hard for them to answer the essay questions. In general, one of the best ways to study is to take the review that we will complete on Monday and to use that as your study guide.  That review will have all of the same content as the test, just in a different format. Also, the essay questions will be the same.

Here are some important dates for your calendar.
