This next week, we will begin the NWEA MAP testing. I plan to have the students do two tests the first week and two tests the following week. Remember, the best way to help your child prepare for this is to ensure they eat a healthy breakfast and get plenty of sleep. School-aged children (5-12 years old) need 9-12 hours of sleep a night for optimal health and cognitive functioning.
There will be a few regular classroom tests this next week as well. On Wednesday, the third-graders will have their next math test. The fourth-graders will have a math test on Friday in addition to the usual spelling test.
This next week we will continue to work on our Social Studies Fair projects in school. Depending on what your child’s visual will be, they may need to do more work at home. Please keep checking in with your child to see how their Social Studies Fair preparations are going.
February will go by fast; please make sure your child is reading their A.R. book at home.
Don’t forget to send your child’s reading log back to school tomorrow to be entered into the drawing for a free book.
The schedule for the Social Studies Fair night is as follows.
6:15-6:30- arrive and view projects
6:30-6:45- Stand by your project to answer questions
6:45-7:30 – Presentations by 5th and 6th graders in their classroom (all are welcome to watch)
Please take your student’s projects home at the end of the night. (6:45 or later)
