November 19-20

This next week, though it is short, will be busy.   The third-grade students will have a math test on Tuesday.  The fourth-graders will start our novel for reading class. Also, this coming week will also start working on our Christmas Program memory work.  This week the students will be responsible for memorizing the Isaiah 7 passage that appears in Part 2 of the program.

Earlier this week a packet was sent home with the parts that the 3rd and 4th-grade students need to memorize for the Children’s Christmas program.  They were also given a packet to keep at school for studying and a digital file can be found on the classroom webpage.  Please keep having them work on these recitations.  Since our numbers are small it will be very important for the student to be confident in their parts so they can speak them loud and clearly.

Earlier this year I noticed that many of our 3rd and 4th graders don’t know their home address or at least one phone number to use in case of an emergency.  So, instead of having a spelling test this week, we will have an address and phone number quiz on Tuesday. Please help your child memorize their home address (complete with city, state and zip code).  I will have them write it as if they are addressing an envelope. Also, pick one phone number that you would like them to call in case of an emergency (mom’s cell, dad’s cell, a home landline, etc.).  I really do believe that this is information that could prove to be important if they are ever separated from you and need the assistance of a police officer.
