September 14-18

This next week, I will increase the amount of work that I am asking the student to do.  We still won’t be up to a full load, but it is a step in that direction. Also, this next week the students will have their first tests of the school year.  On Monday, the students will be taking their first Spelling test, and on Thursday will be an English Test.  In the past, the students either did well on this first English test, or they struggled.  The difference between the two groups is mostly based on if they were fully participating when we discussed how to best use the Capitalization and Punctuation rule packets.  They will be using that same rule packet on this test, so they must understand how to use that tool.

Please note that if you have a fourth-grade student that we will be skipping some math lessons from time to time.  There is a lot to cover in our math book, and for us to get to the content in the back, we need to combine some of the review lessons early on in the school year.  The reason I mention this is because, in the past, some students would not verify which math lesson they needed to do their assignment from and would have to start over once they realized they did the wrong math problems.

If you are choosing to order from this month’s Scholastic Book Order, please return those orders to school by tomorrow, Friday, September 11. Payments can be made in exact cash or made out to “Susan Van Houten.”  Or, you can choose to order and pay online using the class code “MWFG4”.

Are you interested in buying some adult, Trinity apparel?  You can go to https://www.companycasuals.com/TrinityLutheranSchool/start.jsp to view all of the options and to place your order.  All orders need to be submitted by Wednesday, September 16.  More details about payment will come once all orders have been placed.

On Monday, the youngest student in each family will be coming home with a new Social Media Policy that the Board of School Elders (BOSE) passed at their September meeting.  Please read the policy carefully, sign the attached sheet, and return just the second page to school.
