September 21-25

This next week we will busy in the classroom.  The fourth-graders will have a math test on Monday.  The third-graders will have their first math test on Friday, and we will have the usual spelling test on Friday. Additionally, we will be doing our first Science lab this week on a day when we can get outside. In Social Studies, the students will be working on making a PowerPoint presentation about landforms, and both grades will be finishing up their first novel of the school year.

Each month, the students should be taking A.R. tests on their library books.  Most months, third-graders should earn at least 3 points, and the fourth-graders should earn at least 4 points.  Since September is a shorter month and we are getting back into the swing of things, I expect the third-graders to earn 2 points and the fourth graders to earn 3 points.  So, while I do give the students opportunities to be reading during the day, they should also be reading at home to make sure they can hit their A.R. goals

October’s Hot Lunch form will be coming home in the upcoming days.  Please keep your eye out for it as it is due back Thursday, September 24.  If you choose to order Hot Lunch for your child/ren, please fill out 1 form for each student. Also, please mark if you are paying with cash/check or if it should be charged to your TADS account.  If you are playing with cash/check, you may make one payment for multiple students.

Also, please note that the main hot lunch program is moving to Fridays.  Our head volunteer, Rebecca Nielsen, has had a change to her work schedule, and Fridays now work better for her.  Additionally, Pizza day will be moving to a Thursday.

The tradition of teaming up with Gertens is continuing with our first PTO fundraiser!  Order forms are coming home for purchasing Christmas Greens and Poinsettias. Make sure you check out the new 30’ Jack Frost Snowflake Wreath!  All order forms are due back to Trinity by Friday, October 9,, 2020.  More details can be found on the fundraiser’s cover letter.
