Week of December 1-18

Tuition Rate Increase

On Sunday, December 6, the voters of Trinity Lutheran Church approved a 4% tuition increase for the 2021-2022 school year. This increase was brought to the voters per the recommendation of the Board of School Elders. Given this percentage, you can expect K-8 tuition to increase by about $350.

Lutheran Home Tree

If you are looking for a way for your family to brighten someone’s day, the Lutheran Home has a gift tree set up in their main entry way.  On the tree you can find tags with gift ideas for the residents. As many of us know, these residents are having a hard time being separated from their loved ones, and this would be something easy to do to help put a smile on their face.

Scrip orders

Scrip is a great way to support the school.  It is also a good way to purchase gift cards without having to go to a store. The last order before Christmas will be placed right after church on December 13. Please direct any questions to Sharon Anderson.  Happy Shopping!

Rotary Tree

The Belle Plaine Rotary Club and Belle Police Department are joining forces this year for the annual Christmas giving. The collection period will continue through December 22, 12:00 pm. All toys should be new and unwrapped, and placed under the Christmas tree in our church narthex. Toys are being collected for girls and boys, ages birth – 17 years of age, and all toys will be distributed to local families in need.

Families in need of toys can make reservations for toy-pick up by calling the BP Police Dept at 952.873.4307. Please call ahead for reservations; toy pick-up reservations will be available December 14, ending December 22 at 3:00 pm. Please contact Shelly Selly at 952.465.1218 with any questions.

Children’s Christmas Service

Just a quick reminder that this year the final rehearsal for the Children’s Christmas Service is Saturday, December 19, from 9:00-10:30.

School Closings for Weather

Since the public school district is going to a distance learning format, we will not be able to follow their lead when snowstorms hit. If we should decide to have a delayed start, early dismissal, or call off school for a full day due to weather, a teacher will reach out to each family to communicate any changes to our school day.

Dropping Off and Picking Up

Thank you for the patience and extra care you have taken while dropping off and picking up your children.  With nearly all of our parents arriving simultaneously, it does create additional congestion and take a little longer as you carefully watch for all our s students, young and old, to ensure their safety.   Just a reminder that when you are dropping off, make sure to leave a clear path for the Trail Blazer Bus. Thank you

Cold and Flu Season

Many of you may be wondering what to do when your child develops new symptoms that most likely is related to a typical cold but are also possible symptoms related to COVID-19. According to the most current guidelines, if your child has one of the following symptoms, then they need to remain home for at least 10 days unless a health care provider clears your child to return to school:

  • a fever of 100.4 or greater
    • new or worsening cough
    • difficulty breathing
    • a new loss of taste and smell

Additionally, all siblings must also remain home for 10 days or until a health care provider gives the ok. Please contact Susan Van Houten or your child’s teacher with any questions or for more information.

Daily at-home Health Check

Please continue to check your child’s temperature before leaving for school to verify they do not have a fever of 100.4 degrees or more. (Do not medicate your child and send them.)

Also, please perform a visual check on your child for the following conditions:

  • Flushed Cheeks
  • Rapid Breathing/Difficulty Breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Extreme Fussiness
  • Runny Nose
  • Excessive Cough
  • Sneezing
  • Rash

Please note that students will be admitted into school if these symptoms are connected to a pre-existing condition or diagnosis not related to COVID (e.g., norovirus, strep throat) and are deemed safe by a health care provider.
