Mizzy’s Pizza Fundraiser
It is time for PTO’s annual pizza fundraiser! On Tuesday, February 16, if you order any menu item from Mizzy’s Pizza in Belle Plaine and mention “Trinity Lutheran School” a portion of your order will be donated back to Trinity’s PTO! More details will be coming home soon!
Read-A-Thon
Did you know that February is “I Love to Read” month? In connection with this, the PTO will once again be hosting a Read-A-Thon all month long. Students will be encouraged to up their reading game and can help earn money for our school’s library. More information will be sent home early next week.
Grandparents/Special Person Day
At this time, we are still limiting the number of visitors that come and go during the school day. Therefore, we have decided not to hold our annual Grandparents/Special Person Day this year. Hopefully, next year we will be able to resume this tradition.
All-School and Invitational Spelling Bee
At this time, we are still planning to have the All-School Spelling Bee on Friday, March 12. However, this year we will not be able to invite family members to attend this event. We are exploring recording options so family members can still view the Spelling Bee.
While we are planning to have the All-School Spelling Bee, we will not be hosting the Invitational Spelling Bee in April.
School Closings for Weather
Now that busing has resumed District-wide, we will once again be following the lead of the Belle Plaine public school district. If they should decide to alter the school day for weather concerns, we will do the same thing. Please remember, if the school day is shortened for the weather, that Trinity Care will be canceled for that portion of the day.
Cold and Flu Season
Many of you may be wondering what to do when your child develops new symptoms that most likely is related to a typical cold but are also possible symptoms related to COVID-19. According to the most current guidelines, if your child has one of the following symptoms, then they need to remain home for at least 10 days unless a health care provider clears your child to return to school:
- a fever of 100.4 or greater
- new or worsening cough
- difficulty breathing
- a new loss of taste and smell
Additionally, all siblings must also remain home for 10 days or until a health care provider gives the ok.
For more information or questions on whether you should send your child to school, please contact Susan Van Houten or your child’s classroom teacher.
Trinity Care
Please note that starting February 1, 2021, there will be a change in how families will be charged for the use of the Trinity Care program. For more information, please see the attached letter. If you have any questions regarding the changes, please reach out to Miss Reese (mreese@trinitybelleplaine.org).
Please continue to register your child/ren for Trinity Care up to 2 weeks in advance. Additional directions are given in the Google spreadsheet.
Daily at-home Health Check
Please continue to check your child’s temperature before leaving for school to verify they do not have a fever of 100.4 degrees or more. (Do not medicate your child and send them.)
Also, please perform a visual check on your child for the following conditions:
- Flushed Cheeks
