This next week will be busy in the classroom. All of the students will have a math test next week. The third-graders will have their test on Monday, and the fourth-graders will have a test on Wednesday. On Friday, the students will be doing their chapter 10 English test in addition to the usual spelling test
In addition to our regular tests, the students will start to take the winter NWEA MAP tests this upcoming week. Remember, the only things you can do to help your student do well on these tests is to make sure they have a full night’s rest, a good healthy breakfast full of brain foods (not sugars), and encourage them to take their time and try their best. These tests are designed to challenge them to the point where they only get about half of the questions right. That is how NWEA can accurately say what the student knows and what they are ready to learn more about. As of right now, I plan to do a test on Tuesday and Thursday.
Book orders are due tomorrow! If you choose to buy books, you can do so online or by returning your order to school by Friday, February 5, with either exact cash or a check made out to “Susan Van Houten.”
Don’t forget to have your child bring their reading log back tomorrow. Those who had hit their goal will be entered in the drawing for a free book.
