It is starting to feel like spring outside! However, I think in Minnesota, this is actually fool’s spring. We will have to wait and see if winter tries to give us one more storm.
Next week we will be working hard in the classroom. Both third and fourth-graders will be heading back into their reading books. The fourth-graders will have a math test on Monday. The students will be working on their next essay contest and will write on the topic of “What makes my family special.” We will also go back to our usual schedule for spelling and have a spelling test on Friday.
Next Friday is the all-school spelling bee. Please note that we are trying to limit the number of outside visitors, so we will live stream and record the spelling bee so that you can watch your child participate. The top three spellers in the third grade and the top three spellers in the fourth grade will participate in this event.
Next Thursday, we will be recording our classroom skit. This year we will be presenting “The Day the Crayons Came Home” If you have not already heard, each student will be representing one crayon. They have been busy making “postcards” and starting to work on their lines. To help them give their best presentation, it would be helpful for them to have their lines memorized. Additionally, I would encourage the students to wear a shirt that matches their color crayon on Thursday to serve as their “costume.” If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to ask.
Scholastic book orders are due tomorrow, Friday. If you choose to order, you can do so online or send the orders back to school with an exact payment in the form of cash or with a check made out to “Susan Van Houten.”
