Can you believe that we are almost halfway through February already? With that said, how is your child doing on their A.R. goal?
Don’t forget; there will be no school next week, Friday or the following Friday.
This next week will be a busy and short week in the classroom. The fifth graders will be wrapping up their novels. We will write our Americanism essay in the first part of the week. This year’s topic is “What does Patriotism mean to you.” There will also be a fifth-grade math test on Wednesday. Finally, the usual spelling test will be on Thursday this week, and there will not be a pretest.
Don’t forget that February’s I Love to Read month has begun. On the last day of each school week, please send your child’s reading calendar back to school with their weekly minutes and a parent’s initials to be entered into a drawing for a free book.
Update! On March 5, our classroom will be singing in church, and it is our turn to host coffee hour following church. We needed to provide the snacks, make the coffee, and then clean up. In the past, I had asked each family to provide a dozen or a pan of something that provides enough food.
Next week Tuesday is Valentine’s Day. If your child would like to bring something for their classmates, the only request I make is that they bring something for each student so that no one is left out. They will have an opportunity to share these during lunch.
