As I look back at the past week and the weather we had, I would have to say that I am impressed with how many families had boots and winter gear already on hand in the month of October! Perhaps that is a Minnesota thing to be ready for winter in fall.
Next week will be another busy week in the classroom. The first half of the week will be full of lessons, and then in the second half of the week, there will be a few tests. The fourth-graders will have a math test on Thursday. Then, on Friday, the third-graders will have their next math test in addition to the regular spelling test.
The students have just 1 week left to hit their AR goals. As of Wednesday morning, 2 students have hit their goal and 3 students are over halfway there. Keep encouraging the students to read for 15 minutes or more at home and make sure they have their library books at school so they can read them during silent reading times.
When packing your child’s lunch and snack, please try to remember to pack any necessary forks and spoons. So far this year, I have had to wash a fair amount of silverware that students needed to borrow. I noticed that one of the students has a ziplock bag full of plastic forks in their locker so that they always have something here. I think that is an excellent idea as the parents don’t have to worry about packing utensils on a regular basis.
